Privacy Policy

This policy covers the website selfmadecity.app. The game itself is covered by the App Privacy Policy.

2. Hosting

The website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (San Francisco, USA). When you open a page, Netlify processes technically necessary data in server logs: IP address, date and time, requested page, browser and operating system. This is required to deliver and secure the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Netlify is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; standard contractual clauses apply in addition. Logs are deleted after 30 days at the latest.

3. Fonts

All fonts are served from our own server. No connection to Google Fonts or any other provider is made.

4. Cookies and local storage

We set no cookies without your consent. Your choice in the cookie banner is saved in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again on every visit (Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).

5. Analytics with Google Analytics 4

Only if you accept in the cookie banner do we load Google Analytics 4 by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Before that, no Google script is loaded and no data is sent to Google.

• Purpose: understanding how the site is used (page views, scroll depth, clicks on the sign-up).
• Data processed: truncated IP address, device and browser information, usage data, a random identifier stored in a cookie.
• Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG).
• Advertising features, Google Signals and ad personalisation are switched off.
• Retention: 14 months.
• Data may be transferred to the USA; Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

6. Founder List (email)

When you join the Founder List we process your email address, the time of sign-up and confirmation, and the IP address used.

• Purpose: invitations to closed beta waves, the launch bonus and one devlog email a month.
• Process: double opt-in. You receive an email with a confirmation link; without that click your address is not used and is deleted after 30 days at the latest.
• Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
• Provider: Brevo (Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Straße 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany) as our processor. Data is stored on servers in the EU.
• Statistics: Brevo records whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, so we can improve the emails.
• Retention: until you unsubscribe. Every email contains an unsubscribe link; an email to hello@selfmadecity.app works too.

7. External links

The site links to TikTok, YouTube and Reddit. These are plain links without embedded content. Data is only transferred once you click a link; the provider's own privacy policy then applies.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. An email to hello@selfmadecity.app is enough.

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one where you live.

We update this policy when the website or the law changes. The version published here applies.
